AI Awards 2025: Czech AI succeeds globally, transforms education, and strengthens safety
Prague, 5 December 2025 – The prestigious AI Awards 2025, celebrating the most significant achievements in artificial intelligence, were presented on 4 December 2025 at the Vzlet cultural centre in Prague. The fifth edition of the only expert awards in the Czech Republic dedicated exclusively to AI highlighted projects that demonstrate how artificial intelligence is reshaping education, research, public administration, and business. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Professor Hynek Heřmanský, an internationally recognized authority in speech recognition.
The jury recognized projects in six categories. This year’s winners include the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, for transforming workflows in social services; the initiative AI dětem for creating a unique AI curriculum for primary and secondary schools; the Multirobotic Systems Team at the CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Fly4Future for developing the Eagle. One interception system; EDIH CTU for the ADAM chatbot for the Ministry of Finance; and the company E2B for a technology that has become a global standard for the safe development of AI agents.
AI that helps people and teaches them to think
In the category AI and Social Impact, the winner was the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The award recognizes their deployment of AI that significantly reduces the administrative burden on social workers, allowing them to devote more time to their clients. The project strengthens the very core of social work—relationships, dignity, and understanding—and demonstrates that AI does not have to replace decision-making but can humanize it.
In the field of AI in Education, the initiative AI dětem succeeded with its Artificial Intelligence Curriculum for primary and secondary schools. It is a comprehensive educational framework offering nearly 50 teaching methodologies across subjects and gives teachers practical tools for discussing AI with students in broader contexts. The expert jury highlighted the systematic approach and strong emphasis on critical thinking.
Drones winning on the world stage and technology used by thousands of developers
In the category AI in Research and Development, experts from the Multirobotic Systems Team at CTU FEL and Fly4Future were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the prestigious Autonomous Drone Racing League. Another major accomplishment is their Eagle. One system—an autonomous drone designed to intercept unauthorized aircraft. The project even appeared in the European Commission’s State of the Union 2025 report as an example of European innovation with global reach.
In the area of AI in Public Administration, the jury recognized EDIH CTU. Their ADAM chatbot for the Audit Authority of the Ministry of Finance unifies the interpretation of methodological guidelines and significantly improves the efficiency of working with EU funds documentation. The project serves as a model example of how AI can be used meaningfully and effectively in public administration.
In the category AI in Business, the winner was the Czech technology company E2B. Its solution has quickly become the de facto standard for the safe development of AI agents—autonomous systems built on large language models. Massive adoption of their open-source tools and strong interest from Silicon Valley investors confirm that this is a technology of truly global caliber.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Hynek Heřmanský, a world authority in speech recognition. Over his career, he has worked at leading research institutions in Europe and the United States, including directing the Center for Language and Speech Processing at Johns Hopkins University. He holds numerous prestigious awards, including the ISCA Medal, the IEEE Award, and the title of IEEE Life Fellow. His work has profoundly shaped modern voice technologies, from digital assistants to automatic transcription.
“The AI Awards confirm that the Czech footprint in artificial intelligence is clearly visible in the global context. This year we saw an exceptional breadth of projects—from social services and education to cutting-edge research and business. This diversity shows that AI in the Czech Republic is not an isolated bubble but a technology with real impact on society,” says Lukáš Kačena, Chair of the Czech National AI Platform.
This year, the expert jury evaluated a total of 120 nominated projects and institutions submitted through an open nomination process during September 2025. Finalists were also announced for each category.
